When the flame is blue, theres no change in view!

Since 1956, Milwaukeeans needed only to look toward the downtown skyline to get their weather forecast. Thats when the Wisconsin Gas Co. installed the flame-shaped, color-changing light atop their iconic Art Deco building on Wisconsin Avenue.

The flame isnt just decorative, its a weather report. The meaning of the colors isnt obvious, so a rhyme was created to help people remember:

When the flame is red, its warm weather ahead!
When the flame is gold, watch out for cold!
When the flame is blue, theres no change in view!
When theres a flickering flame, expect snow or rain!

Now this historic and simple weather forecast is on your iPhone!

The Milwaukee Gas Light app will give the forecast for your current location, so even if youre not downtown, you can still see flame.

Pros and cons of Milwaukee Gas Light app for iPhone and iPad

Milwaukee Gas Light app good for

The display is beautiful, I suggest to have the option for Celsius. I love this app.
Perfect squared!! Thanks for the new Celsius display, and phenomenal GPS abilities!

Some bad moments

So good app, but not being able to choose Celsius for temp kills the experience. Making this app available in international markets kind of begs for universal temperature display. Id give a better rating if Celsius were an option. Right now the UI gets it 2 stars.
Previous version didnt work and current version requires iOS 7, but of course my iPod cant be updated to iOS 7. So, pretty much useless to me.
I love this app. I downloaded it as a kick because that is my favorite building downtown. As many have said, it has turned into my go to weather app. Very clever, very useful and aesthetically pleasing.
This attractive app is Fun to use when you want a quick look at the weather. I enjoy it.
In 1960, when I was seven years old, I was on a train going from Eagle River Wisconsin to Chicago. I can only remember one thing from that entire overnight train ride 54 years ago. At about 4:00 in the morning, I woke up and looked out the window. There were all these big buildings and at first I thought we were in Chicago. But then I saw this one building with a blue, "flame like" light on the very top. We were actually going through Milwaukee and I never forgot the sight of that building because of the huge artificial flame on top! When I saw this app I just had to download it. Besides using it for the weather its also my "lock screen" wallpaper. I love this app!!
Simple and Original and Milwaukee. What else could you ask for.
